CIVIL OR STRUCTURAL ENGINEER

Due to the expansion of Barrason’s Engineers, now we are hiring for an enthusiastic engineer willing to learn.

About role:

3+ years experience in engineering or precast industry is highly regarded, for the right person training will be provided

Role involves attendance on-site to conduct a building inspection, precast building sites, precast yards

Inspecting structures around greater Brisbane

Temporary Works Engineering design and report writing skills

Working as a part of close team, head office is based in Melbourne

Being able to work autonomously

Based in our Wacol office with our partner company staff

Provide technical advice to the team in Wacol office

Client interaction on-site

Being organized and punctual 

Vehicle and tools of the trade provided

More details about this role are:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience (preferred)
  • Familiar with The Australian Standards for building inspections and building codes
  • Comprehensive understanding of buildings and structures with an in-depth knowledge of loading of structures and modes of failure
  • Confident to prepare reports and present technical finding in required formats.
  • Understand the project scope and requirement,
  • Conduct building and asset inspections on time and in a professional manner
  • Attend meetings and sites
  • Travel frequently to meet the site attendance requirements
  • Constant communication with project and inspection team during working hours
  • Keeping cloud-based storage up-to-date as per guidelines
  • Timely attention to emails and communication
  • Complete adherence to project-specific SWMS, site instructions and handbook
  • Ensure project is being closed within the defined timeline and notify project manager on any concern or risk which may result in a delay in project completion and seek advice,
  • Current Queensland Drivers Licence and clean driving record

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, the ability to communicate clearly and concisely, varying communication style depending upon the audience, in a warm & friendly manner
  • Ability to perform well both when needs to take direction and when required to lead others and take initiatives. Willingness to assist and support others as required and get on well with team members
  • Accomplish objectives effectively within the time frame given and carry out administrative duties in an efficient and timely manner
  • Willingness to review and revise any procedures and processes related to your role that you could see be streamlined or improved on
  • Liaise directly with architects, Council, clients, construction contractors and other staff
  • Prepare accurate, legible, written calculations and computer analysis using common software packages, then preparing sketches and notes for drafting.
